Meet Our Staff

Melinda Wardle – Member Manager Education CDA Credential Pursuit of an Associate’s Degree – Early Childhood Major – Ivy Tech Community College
What to know: Melinda opened the Center in February 1994. She opened the Program to satisfy a need in the community for a quality child care program. She is passionate about the education of all children. Her philosophy about what a child care facility should be is the main driving force behind the program today. Her unstoppable desire to improve the quality of care for children in this state is recognized by her many accomplishments in the field of Early Childhood.

Mary Jo Kern - Administrator Education Bachelor’s of Science – Psychology Major – Indiana University - Purdue University at Indianapolis Associates of Science – Early Childhood Major – Ivy Tech Community College CDA Credential
What to know: Mary Jo has been with the Center since January 1994. She is responsible for the daily inner workings of the program. She handles all of the financial and record keeping needs. She is active in the field of Early Childhood by mentoring individuals and other centers. Other responsibilities are to maintain NAEYC accreditation and the Level 4 Paths to Quality ranking. Her ability to speak with and understand family’s needs is her strongest quality.

Patricia (Trish) Brown – Gumball Gang Teacher Education Associate’s Degree – Early Childhood Major – Ivy Tech Community College Pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree – Early Childhood Major – Ashford University
What to Know: Trish has been teaching with our company since March of 2002. She came to us from our Pittsboro location to direct our school age program. She has never stopped since. Trish is a whirlwind of activity and she never slows down. She takes the children on fieldtrips, performs community service activities, successfully fundraises for Riley Hospital and campaigns for children’s issues. Currently, Trish is spending most of her teaching day with the kindergarten age class.

Stephanie Coy – Pooh Crew Teacher Education CDA Credential Pursuit of an Associate’s Degree – Early Childhood Major – Ivy Tech Community College
What to know: Stephanie has been with the Center since December 2000. She began working with our program as our cook. She found that she enjoyed working with the children so much that she decided to return to school and study early childhood. The before and after school program is where she began teaching. Soon she moved to a full time teaching position with the toddlers and 2 year olds. She found her niche with the 2’s and has been there ever since. Her student’s parents rave about her ability to communicate with the children. She uses a combination of sign language and pictograms or similar methods as the children’s needs demand it.

Yvonne Spurlock – Leap Frogs Teacher Education CDA Credential Pursuit of Associate’s Degree – Early Childhood Major – Ivy Tech Community College
What to know: Yvonne began teaching with our Center in August of 2003. She came to the program with a lot of teaching experience. Her first class was the 3’s class, which she taught for several years before moving to her current classroom as the preschool teacher. Yvonne’s goal is to make sure that every child that leaves her classroom is prepared for kindergarten. She is really committed to literacy and social studies. Her loving way with the children is her best quality.

Debbie Spurlock – Assistant Director Education CDA Credential - Pursuit of an Associate’s Degree – Early Childhood Major – Vincennes University and Ivy Tech Community College
What to Know: Debbie has been with the Center since August 1994. She started with the Center as a Hero Program student from Danville High School. She has since worked as a 3’s, preschool and school age teacher. She is the curriculum and education advisor for the program. She works as the liaison for the teaching staff, management and families. Her desire to “get it done” is her strong suit.

Cara Morrow – Dino’s Teacher Education Bachelor’s Degree of Science – Elementary Education/Special Education/ Early Education Majors – Indiana State University
What to know Cara is our newest teaching staff member. She has been with our program since September 2008. Cara brought with her elementary and special education experience. She is wonderful at recognizing children’s special needs, making a plan to increase skills and following through with the plan until the skill is built. She is perky and full of animation. She uses her whole body to communicate with the students in her classroom. Parents find her a joy to work alongside.
